My father lived in a remote village and he had bees in the garden. He was not a beekeeper – he was an amateur, because his bees often died in the winter, disappeared somewhere in the summer and stung the owner all year round. His father was not upset, he liked his hobby, besides, he quickly learned all the basics from a beekeeper’s neighbor.
Our house has always been full of honey, but honey was always from field flowers – with the same taste. All in our house did not like honey and ate it seldom. My father took offense, picked up a full bowl of sticky mass, broke off a decent hunk of bread and sat down for a long meal. He also always mumbled to himself that we are so ungrateful, we do not understand, what is honey and what is harmful candy and sugar.
My father did not understand that we really tasted – against the background of shopping sweets, the field honey seemed a modest treat. Usually by the end of winter we hardly ate a couple of liters of honey, the rest stood for future use.
Once, many years later, my son caught a bad cold. The first thing that came to mind is honey and raspberries. I went to get natural medicine. What was offered in the store was ugly quality. Heard about the exhibition of honey – went there.
Wow! I could not even imagine how many varieties of honey exist in the world! What taste, color, consistency – everything is so different! I’m used to pale yellow honey with a mediocre taste, but what I tried at the show was divine!
In one minute I remembered all the words of my father about the benefits of honey – its vitamins, trace elements, its healing, animating and purifying function. I realized: all this is the real truth, because such a divine taste can be of great benefit.
Having typed honey for all the money that I found in my pockets, I rushed home to feed the child. The guy ate so that the noise was standing, and he recovered in one day. At home, after his tasting, all the spoons were sweet, but the child was happy.
Since that day we have promised each other honestly that we will not eat more candy – we will buy cans of honey and use only useful natural sweetness.
